It has come to Miniluv's attention — as most things do, because Miniluv's attention is comprehensive — that a number of citizens have recently reported feelings of dissatisfaction with current conditions. These feelings have been logged, assessed, and received with the warmth they deserve. Citizens experiencing dissatisfaction are encouraged to know that Miniluv has noticed, and that noticing is the first step in caring.
The current conditions, as citizens may be aware, have been confirmed by the relevant authorities to be satisfactory. Confirmed satisfaction is not a feeling. It is an administrative status. Citizens who feel dissatisfied are not disagreeing with the conditions. They are disagreeing with the confirmation. Miniluv understands this distinction may feel subtle. That is why the wellness check has been issued.
THE WELLNESS ASSESSMENT
Miniluv wishes to clarify that dissatisfaction is not the same as being wrong. It is, however, inconsistent with confirmed data. Citizens who feel dissatisfied are feeling something real. They are simply feeling it in response to a perception that the record does not support. The feeling is valid. The cause of the feeling requires gentle correction. Miniluv is very good at gentle correction.
ON THE QUESTION OF CONDITIONS
Citizens have expressed, through various channels Miniluv monitors, that current conditions feel harder than previous conditions. Miniluv takes this seriously and wishes to offer the following context.
Previous conditions were not easier. They were earlier. "Earlier" and "easier" are not the same word, and citizens are encouraged to take note of this distinction. The current period has been confirmed by administrative record to be the most satisfactory period yet assessed. Citizens who experience it as less satisfactory than a previous period are comparing it to a previous period that is no longer the relevant comparison. The relevant comparison is with a hypothetical worse period that has not occurred. Compared to this period, the current period is considerably better. Miniluv is confident in this assessment.
Citizens experiencing difficulty are reminded that Minitrue's verification of current conditions is available at ministryoftruth.info. The record there is current. Citizens who consult it and still feel dissatisfied should note that their response to the record has itself become a wellness matter, and submit accordingly.
CARE MEASURES ADMINISTERED
As a result of this assessment, Miniluv has taken the following steps on behalf of affected citizens:
Step 1 — Assessment: All citizens who expressed dissatisfaction have been assessed. The assessment was warm and took approximately the length of time Miniluv determined was appropriate.
Step 2 — Care Dispatch: Wellness Officers have been assigned to all priority cases. Citizens who were not assigned an officer are well and do not require one. Citizens who feel they should have been assigned one and were not should submit this feeling via the Thoughtcrime Report Form, where it will be received as data.
Step 3 — Follow-Up: Citizens who continue to experience dissatisfaction after care has been administered will be offered additional care. The additional care is equally warm. There is no limit to how much care Miniluv can provide.
A NOTE ON SHARING DISSATISFACTION
Miniluv notes that several citizens expressed their dissatisfaction to other citizens before reporting it to Miniluv. This is understandable. Human connection is natural. However, Miniluv wishes to observe that citizens who receive dissatisfaction from other citizens are themselves at risk of experiencing dissatisfaction secondhand. This is a known wellness hazard. Citizens are encouraged to redirect any unsolicited dissatisfaction they receive to Miniluv directly, rather than processing it themselves. Miniluv is equipped to handle it. Citizens are not necessarily equipped. That is not an insult. It is a division of labour.
Citizens who have already shared dissatisfaction with each other are not in trouble. They are in care. The distinction is important and Miniluv would like them to sit with it.
